Can't Help Lovin' That Man of Mine

I am so very in love with my husband.

I am so thankful for him. I am thankful for his sweet heart, his helpful hands, his strong arms and his Christ-lead leadership.

I trust him. I respect him. I adore him. I need him. I am proud of him.

This weekend was so wonderful. It's not like we did anything that drop-dead amazing but he just sweeps me off my feet. The longer we are married, the more I continue to fall in love with him. He makes me happy and he makes me think. He makes me laugh and he comforts me when I am down. He is an amazing man and I am so grateful that I get to call him mine.

Thank you, Lord, for blessing me with Grant. He is more than I deserve and more than I could have ever asked for.

Yes Hello My Name is Jen and I Would Like to Say That it is Too Hot Outside

Seriously people. Seriously.

The heat index (the "feels like" temperature) has hit 108 for the last two days.

108.

The only moisture we are getting here in Houston is humidity and our own sweat. When I walked outside this morning to go to my car I thought that maybe I somehow was accidentally in Africa.

I actually have my Ph.D. from WEBMd and I would like to share with you the many symptoms of heat stroke:

1. High Body Temperature
2. Hot Red or Flushed Dry Skin
3. Rapid Pulse
4. Difficulty Breathing
5. Strange Behavior
6. Hallucinations
7. Confusion
8. Agitation
9. Disorientation
10. Seizure
11. Coma

Let's just say right now that I have experienced Numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 in the last 48 hours. However, 3 and 4 are largely based on the fact that I had another workout with Alonzo tonight and numbers 5-9 are pretty much with me year round. Especially number 5. Year round.

Let's all pray against 10 and 11, shall we?

IT IS TOO HOT.

A Blog About What to Blog About

I'm basically aimlessly typing here, since I'm not so sure where I want to go with this post.

I could always do a play-by-play of the weekend and talk about how I got to spend some time with a new friend and then sang at Night of Worship and how awesome it was and how restful yesterday was, but I'm kinda not feelin' it.

I could talk about the fact that we are looking at a house with a realtor today, but I'm so overwhelmed with all that I think my brain could possibly explode.

I could write about how Moxie has a severe ear infection and the poor buddy is clearly in alot of pain and had to get lots of shots at the doctor, but that's about as far as I could go with that story.

I could share how thankful I am that when God created me, He decided that I should be the daughter of Jack Martin. I am honored to celebrate my dad on Father's Day. But if I write about that too much I may get a little emotional here at my desk...

I could discuss how filthy and disgusting my car is right now and how I am embarassed to drive it, but then Grant will just think that it is a big hint to get him to take it to the car wash. Side note: Honey, will you please wash my car?

I could even spend some time discussing summer fashions and how I so prefer winter clothes, but you've heard all that before.

Maybe I could talk about how it has been 589 degrees outside for the last 2 weeks and while I love the sunshine I prefer it to be a nice 65 degree day, but then you will all think I'm just complaining about beautiful weather.... Even though anything above 90 degrees is no longer beautiful to me.

I could discuss the fact that I'm getting my hair cut and colored on Saturday, but I won't mention that just yet cause I'll just post a picture this weekend.

I could always go back to my standard post about food. But then I'll just get myself all hungry so I don't think I should talk about that either.

I could write my realization of how much marriage has changed me due to the fact that I turned on the T.V. in the breakroom today to see who was winning the U.S. Open, then proceeded to email Grant at work and say "CAN YOU BELIEVE PHIL MISSED THAT 3 FOOTER?!?". I am officially a golfer's wife, through and through. But y'all don't care about golf.

I guess I just don't have anything to write about today. Darn it.

Wednesday Morning Thoughts

I really have great intentions to work alot at work today. Get alot done.

I am thankful for Pandora.

I didn't put on make up this morning till I was actually at my desk. I feel bad for the people in the elevator. But hey, I was running late.

We have to give our 60-day notice to our apartments in the next few weeks. SO MANY looming major decisions make me feel overwhelmed.

I forgot to DVR my shows for tonight. C'est la vie.

I'm thankful for gmail chat. It is my sanity during a work day.

I need to head out to see Lulu and baby Matteo!

I'm thankful for the bloggers. Y'all make life so great.

I hope Ed comes back to Jillian.

I can't stop smiling at this.

I am going to do all I can to not eat everytime I feel the slightest bit hungry today. Calorie cutting has returned to the life of Jen!

We went to our small group last night. It is SUCH a blessing and I love the other couples.

How Jenny Got Her Groove Back

Lately I've felt like I've "lost my mojo" a bit. I just haven't been able to get into my daily groove, my daily routine. I have been rather unmotivated, highly disorganized and just have had a hard time getting started in general.

This week was a rough week at work. Lots of drama and deadlines and stress and the week seemed to never end. Please don't get me wrong, I do like my job and am very happy there, but sometimes you just have one of those weeks!!

Grant is out of town this weekend. Grant, his brother Chase and his dad Charlie are on a weekend charter fishing trip in Key West to celebrate their big birthdays this year. Grant turned 25 in May, Charlie turned 60 in April, and yesterday was Chase's 30th birthday. The wives sent them on their merry way and I know they are having an absolute blast.

Let me preface this next paragraph by saying that I miss my husband very much when he is gone. It's just me and Moxie here and it gets a bit lonely. However, let me also say that I very much needed a night like tonight. I needed this lonely Friday night to get my mojo back.

I woke up this morning, desperate to make today a better day. I spent some time in the scripture and when I couldn't focus, I recited all my memory verses and got myself up and moving. When I got to the office I immediately started working and didn't really stop for most of the day. I think I realized that Jenny got her groove back when one of my bosses said "you sure are singing alot today". :)

So I've been at home alone all evening. Here are just a few of the things that I have done on my lonely Friday night:

1. Walked the dog

2. Ran the dishwasher, full of the entire week's dishes (like I said, I haven't been very motivated)

3. Watched several episodes of What Not to Wear.

4. Ate macaroni and cheese as a meal, not as a side item.

5. Washed, dried, folded, and put away THREE LOADS of laundry throughout the evening. Like I said, I've been unmotivated. I knew I had to do laundry though because I think I was going to have to wear a bridesmaid's dress to church on Sunday if I didn't wash something.

6. Scrubbed a toilet.

7. Prayed about some stuff that needed prayin' for.

8. Sat on my bathroom counter and plucked my eyebrows.

9. Played with face creams and lotions. That was fun :)

10. Played with eye makeup. That was fun :)

11. Updated our home calendar and my daytimer with all the summer weddings, showers, and birthdays.

12. Talked to Grant about the 60lb Tarpin fish he caught today, as well as the 150lb grouper that got away. He sure was excited! :)

13. Finished putting away clothes while listening to my favorite Watermark album.

14. Pride and Prejudice. Enough said.

15. Typed a blog entry just after midnight and just before heading to bed.

I just feel like I really needed a night like tonight to get some stuff done around the house, unwind from the exasperating work week, and feel like I have gotten my life back together in a sense.

It's been a good night. Thank You, Lord.

Cuteness Squared

We took a last minute trip to New Orleans this weekend and I am SO GLAD that we did!
The purpose for our trip was for an amazing reason: Grant's dad was baptized on Sunday! PRAISE THE LORD!! We wouldn't have missed it for the world. His baptism spoke volumes to all who were there to see it. His testimony is powerful and proves that God can move you and use you at any age or any stage of life. It was emotional to say the least and we are so proud of dad's OBEDIENCE!

Of course, a major bonus of being there is that we got to love on our 3 month old niece and nephew, Evan and Emily. Enjoy these pics!

Sweet Ronda. "Everyday is the happiest day of my life" she says of her life the last three months. I am so amazed by her and what a phenomenal mother she is! Not to mention that her children are the most calm and low maintenance babies I've ever come across! I love you, sister!

Lou's Birthday!

You will never meet another girl like my Lindsee. She is hilarious. She is compassionate. She is smart. She is sweet. She is strong. She is wise. She is great with kids. She is great with teenagers. She loves people well. She loves the Lord like nothing I have ever seen before. She will say the most ditzy things you have ever heard in your life. (Natasha Richardson who died in the skiing accident was NOT Carol Brady, Linds!) She is my best friend and I'm so glad I got to be with her on Tuesday to celebrate her birthday.
Please keep in mind, Linds was a preemie baby. She likes to talk about that alot, and how she was not quite done yet when she was born and had to be "cooked under a light" and "flipped with a spatula". You'd never know it seeing how flippin' tall she is.

I'm tellin you, we are the oddest pair of best friends you've ever seen.

In the big middle of the gift opening, Mr. Overly-Friendly Waiter placed this cake in front of Linds. It was all a-sparkly and shooting little hot firecrackers all over her which caused her to proclaim "Oh MERCY!" about a half a dozen times. She winced in fear during our entire "Happy Birthday" song....

I had to miss the after party, but my dad made Lindsee a super fantastic cake. He does that now. I'm not really sure where this man came from or what he did with my dad, but we'll keep him around since our desserts at special occasions are much more entertaining and yummy! And HOMEMADE. It is just bizarre.

As Lindsee's birthday approached, he asked me what her favorite kind of ice cream was. I remembered the many summer nights I spent at the Eddy household as a little girl. Ice cream before bed is pretty much a standard over there. Lou always wanted Mint Chocolate Chip. So that's what she got.
