Orthopedic Inserts are for 26 Year Olds

I wish I had a really cool story about how I hurt my foot. I could say "Well, I was training for another marathon..." or maybe even "I was rock climbing with my very toned arms and butt and then my foot just slipped off of the foot-holder-thing and that's how it happened!"..... but none of that is true.

Especially the toned arms and butt part.

All I know is that I was walking around like normal, and then I stood up and I was not walking normal.

True story.

Anyways, I'm not using the crutches because they are cumbersome. I did buy some super comfy Dr. Scholl's inserts for my shoes and they are rocking my world.

I've got a lot planned today. I have some business meetings this afternoon but first and foremost this morning I am going to go get myself an ever-loving pedicure and an ever-loving eyebrow wax, because, let me tell you WE HAVE REACHED THE POINT WHERE THEY ARE NECESSARY.

Also, I plan on stopping by Target to buy this mascara because I'm pretty sure my eyelashes will be voluminous and there will be one million of them.

They will look just like Eva Longoria's and Jennifer Lopez's from the commercials. I'll let you know how it works out.

I Burnt the Cookies

Grant kindly asked me if I would make cookies.

I did. And I put them in the oven.

And then I left the room.

And then half an hour later, I came back into the kitchen.

And then I smelled them.

OOPS.

My kitchen stinks.

They are a lovely shade of black.

I'm just glad I ate a little bit of dough before I put them in the oven.

Maybe I subconsciously burned the cookies on purpose because I did a lot of exercising  today and I knew the cookies would ruin it all my hard work.

Poor cookies.

Poor husband.

Long and Lean

My freshman year of college, I took a ballet class three days a week for a dance credit. That's what happens when you're a Musical Theater major :)

On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, I would change into pink tights and a leotard and spend my morning at the barre in my tiny pink ballet shoes. I remember leaving there always feeling very exhausted, but like I had just had a great stretch!

If I look at pictures from my freshman year of college, it's one of those "MAN, I wish I still looked like that!". I didn't look so short and squatty.  Not so many curves. Longer lines. I miss it...

I really think it was the ballet. All the leaping and stretching made me very toned. Do they have adult ballet classes? I mean, I'm not looking to become the world's best ballet dancer (and let me tell you, that is the world's largest improbability) but I am thinking I'd like to take ballet again at a beginner level but with the adult folk. Not so much with the 3 year olds.

I just wanna be lean and not squatty.

Anybody wanna take a ballet class with me? ;)

Move That Bus!

Well, the night started out rough.

Our van got broken into AGAIN. The battery was stolen from it AGAIN. And the bus wasn't cooperating.

AGAIN.

But, by the power of prayer (and some muscle men) we got things rollin' and got the kiddos home safely.

We get by with a little help from our friends :)

Ten O'Clock Tacos

We've been doing Houston Project every night this week. It's been GREAT, but let me tell you.... when we get home we are TIRED and we are HUNGRY.

When I type in ALL CAPS I am hoping that you will get that I am speaking EMPHATICALLY but I am not YELLING AT YOU.

Anyhoo, when we get home it is after 9:30 and I try to whip up a quick meal for me and my darling, handsome husband.

Tonight, we ate tacos.

I believe that tacos at 10:00 at night is the best time to eat a taco. It takes me back to the nights at Taco C with my friends at 2 in the morning. (Tortillas and queso, anyone?)

Anyways, tonight was great. We had some major hiccups with transportation. We pick kids up from various apartment complexes in the area. Problem was, our bus broke down tonight, and someone clipped the battery out of the van. So we were a little perplexed. But seriously, by the power of prayer, we got the bus up and running and we got over 50 kids to VBS! They are so cute.

I lead opening assemblies. I do cool dance moved. Like the robot. It's legit.

Highlights

My nephew, Dean is a big boy now. He is 2 years old and he goes to Soccer Tots on Saturday mornings. This Saturday his mommy and daddy couldn't take him because they were off celebrating their eleven year anniversary. So, since Grammy was taking care of his big sister Grace, Aunt Jenny got to take him!

I went over to my mom's, picked up my buddy, and loaded him in the car. We had to take her car since it had a car seat.

Here's my buddy boy.

On the drive, he pointed at things out the window and named them. Trees. Park. Car. House. Punza's Tower. Oh, you didn't know that Rapunzel's Tower was in the Houston area? It is. It's actually a church steeple, but Dean has declared it "Punza's Tower".

We went to Soccer Tots which is hilarity and chaos. Put 8 kids under the age of 3 in a large basketball court and try to get them to follow instructions. Dean did a great job. He did turn to me about 15 minutes into it and said "Um, Jenny... um.... juice box."

We had a little juice box break.

On the drive home, he fell asleep.

I so enjoyed my little morning with my little man.

Later that afternoon, Grant and I went to a beautiful, beautiful wedding. My choir director got married! And he sang to his bride. He sang "When You Say You Love Me" by Josh Groban. It was beautiful and full of love :)

And now, we're preparing for our week. This week is Houston Project.

Houston Project is a week long mission trip our church does every summer in our own city. We host a Vacation Bible School at 19 sites throughout the city of Houston. I'm leading the opening assembly for VBS each night, which means that I am going to be dancing around like a crazy person. Grant and I are co-leaders for our site and are looking forward to a powerful week.

Pray for us... it's going to be a long, HOT few days!

Facts on Friday

Fact: I made the switch. Yes, this week I purchased a MacBook Pro. I'm SORRY! I need it for my new job. I'm not gonna lie, it's fancy. I swore I'd never do it. And then I did. I love it. Please don't take my precious away from me.

Fact: I'm tired of talking about Casey Anthony.

Fact: In a rare change of routine, my dog stepped out of the grass and pooped on the sidewalk yesterday. For real. I'm not so sure what that was all about...

Fact: I'm now on Google+. I like it so far, but not enough people are on it yet. I need it to pick up pretty quick. It's lonely on there right now....like you've come to a party that no one else showed up for.... look me up if you're on there!

Fact: I had a ton of leftover banana pudding from a July 4th party we went to on Monday. It's been the snack that does not end. BUT SO GOOD.

Fact: I had Dairy Queen this week as a middle of the day pick-me-up and I THINK WE ALL NEED MORE DAIRY QUEEN IN OUR LIVES.

Fact: Tomorrow I get to take my nephew, Dean, to Soccer Tots. I'm so excited about a morning date with my little man :)

Have a great weekend :)

Junk

It seems like everybody is going through something right now.

Everyone I talk to, including yours truly, is walking through their own brand of muck and yuck and sometimes I think we all have the summertime blues.

It's okay to go through a funk. It's normal. But climbing out of the pit is a decision, a choice, and a necessity.

Remember this: someone else has it worse. What you're going through is not the worst thing that you could be going through. It's happening for a reason, and more importantly, for a season. This too shall pass. It's not going to be like this forever.

You can choose to do something good with it. You can choose to give it to God, to release it. To submit to His will.

PRAY ABOUT IT. Pray about it, pray about it, pray about it. Ask Him to give you peace. Pray that your attitude would change.

Talk to a friend. Seek wise counsel.

SEEK HIM. Seek Him in the scriptures. Read through the Psalms.

One of my favorite Elisabeth Elliot quotes:

"A merciful Father strips us as a tree is stripped of its blossoms before it can bear fruit. He is not finished with us yet, whatever the losses we suffer."

and another from Mrs. Elliot...

"What a joy it is to obey this Lord, who provides us with His Spirit to counsel and empower us and who ensures that everything that happens to us, even the cyclone that brings nothing but destruction, has come through the hedge of His love before it reaches us."

Pray about it. Seek Him. Talk to a girlfriend.

And by all means... eat some chocolate.
